Smoothing Seams and Priming the D-Sserd

Pretty much self-explanatory thanks to the voice overs:

Some still images of it at this stage here.

For an old kit it looks really good in primer.

Why do the yellow first though? If it were me I would probably do it last because now you have to mask over it when you paint the rest of the torso.

Thanks.

I dunno. I'm kind of still learning about masking for airbrush painting, so I'm not sure which direction to go, so to speak, with masking. I think you're right about painting the main color for the torso first and then detailing it. To compound the problem, yellow seems to be a tough color to get good coverage with, so I ended up brush painting that little detail anyway.

hey, i just found out ur blog. I'm pretty nooby at model kits, and i mainly only build gundams.
So, i have a few questions i'd like to ask.
Where can I get some decent primer/surfacer for gundams here in America??
And where can i get a cheap airbrush and some paints for my gundams?
Right now, i only use paint brushes and some crappy paint, so i wanna start surfacing my gundams and at least paint brush the parts.
I was planning on walking into home depot and asking for primer/surfacer, but that'd probably be dumb. So yeah, where'd you get urs?
Thanks in Advance!

Hey, Kevin,

It sounds like the first thing you ought to do is go join up at the hobbyfanatics.com online community for model builders.

Beyond that, spruebrothers.com and michtoy.com are the places I've been going to online for paints and supplies lately. badgerairbrush.com is a good airbrush source - they have been having a "garage sale" lately where you can get some good ABs for cheap.

There's lots of research you'll need to do to make sure you get the right airbrush set up for your needs. Using the search function at hobbyfanatics will serve you well.

I guess I should probably rework my blog to include some links to stores and such. My nickname over at hobbyfanatics is Machne Mess - I hope to see you over there!
